Pharmaceutical Sciences (Ph.D.)

The Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences at Howard's Graduate School welcomes applicants with backgrounds in the biomedical and biological sciences, pharmacy, chemistry, chemical or biochemical engineering, and other related fields. Our graduates have landed faculty positions at top universities and colleges and research careers in the pharmaceutical industry and in a wide range of public and private sector settings.

Office of Continuing Professional Education

The Continuing Professional Education Program (CPEP) sponsors and co-sponsors various pharmacy-practice-based courses at the local level. The program partners with various organizations, including Howard University College of Pharmacy Alumni Association and the Washington DC Pharmacists Association to assist the metropolitan area’s pharmacists and pharmacy technicians in meeting licensure requirements while advancing their practices.

Non-Traditional Doctor of Pharmacy (NTDP) Program

Howard University College of Pharmacy is one of the oldest and top technology advanced schools/colleges of pharmacy in the United States. The success of the traditional program led to the development of an innovative Non-Traditional Doctor of Pharmacy (NTDP) Program designed for practicing pharmacists. The salient features of the program are highlighted below:

Five-Year PharmD/MBA Program

There is a growing market for pharmacists who are educated in both pharmacy and business administration. The Joint Doctor of Pharmacy/Master of Business Administration (Pharm.D./M.B.A.) degree curriculum will focus on providing excellent professional education designed to equip students with knowledge, skills, and competencies to compete and exhibit leadership in the dynamic and challenging fields of Pharmacy and other Health Care fields.

Four-Year Entry Level Pharm. D. Program

To be eligible for admission consideration into the entry-level Pharm. D.

B.S./PharmD Program

The B.S./PHARM.D. Program allows a student to complete the requirements for both the B.S. and Pharm.D. degree in seven years instead of the customary eight years. The College of Pharmacy at Howard University is currently reactivating the articulation agreements with feeder institutions where a student obtains a B.S. degree from the feeder institution and a Pharm.D. degree from Howard University upon completion of all required courses.
