The Continuing Professional Education Program (CPEP) sponsors and co-sponsors various pharmacy-practice-based courses at the local level. The program partners with various organizations, including Howard University College of Pharmacy Alumni Association and the Washington DC Pharmacists Association to assist the metropolitan area’s pharmacists and pharmacy technicians in meeting licensure requirements while advancing their practices.
The mission of the Howard University College of Pharmacy - Office of Continuing Professional Education is to promote the professional development of pharmacists, pharmacy technicians and other professionals in the field of pharmacy in various practice settings with an emphasis on educational programs that focus on current trends in drug therapy management, training areas emphasized by the Washington DC pharmacy licensure requirements and management of diseases in various populations.
The goal of the Howard University College of Pharmacy Continuing Profession Education Program (CPEP) is to achieve the mission statement of the Howard University College of Pharmacy CPE Program, the goals of the Howard University College of Pharmacy CPE programs will be to:
- Impact pharmacy practice in a variety of practice settings
- Impact coverage of training areas emphasized by the Washington DC pharmacy licensure requirements.
- Have an impact on pharmacy practice in a variety of specific disease populations.
Application Instructions
Once you have completed the forms, please submit the application and LOA, Conflict of interest forms, as well as each speaker/presenter's CV/Resume to HUCOPCPEoffice@howard.edu
*** Please note that an application and COI forms MUST be completed for all speakers/presenters as well as by the adviser and/or mentor which in this instance is yourself***
The Speakers or PowerPoint SLIDES should follow the guidelines mentioned below. For further details regarding PowerPoints, please refer to the attached checklist:

Maximum of 45 slides per 1 hour (60 minutes) of CE credit

The FIRST SLIDE includes the title of the presentation, and name, title, and academic/professional credentials of the speaker

The SECOND SLIDE includes disclosure. If no disclosure, state “Nothing to Disclose” in the second slide.

The THIRD SLIDE should list the objectives.

The FINAL SLIDE should include the “ CE ACCESS CODE” and instruction on how to claim CE Credit. Refer to the sample slide attached.

REFERENCE SLIDE(s) - All references/citations should be consolidated on one or multiple slides EVEN if referenced on individual slides. The placement of the reference slide(s) is left to the speaker's discretion as long as it is not the: First, Second, Third, or Final slide.
In addition to the above requirements, your Program Announcement/ FLYER/MARKETING MATERIAL - should include the components outlined below. For further guidance, please refer to the attached Program Announcement template.

Caution to Prospective Students
The Board of Trustees of Howard University on September 24, 1983, adopted the following policy statement regarding applications for admission: "Applicants seeking admission to Howard University are required to submit accurate and complete credentials and accurate and complete information requested by the University. Applicants who fail to do so shall be denied admission. Enrolled students who as applicants failed to submit accurate and complete credentials or accurate and complete information on their application for admission shall be subject to dismissal when the same is made known, regardless of classification."
