The Master of Public Health (MPH) is the core professional degree globally recognized for public health practice. Howard's Master of Public Health (MPH) will prepare you, like many of our graduate alumni, for leadership roles in public health education, research, policy, and administration. Our MPH graduates are employed by state and local health departments, research institutes, nonprofits, and private sector agencies. Others pursue further graduate or clinical study.

Medical physicists can advise clinicians on the safe and effective use of medical devices in the diagnosis and treatment of disease and help provide patients with life-changing care. The CAMPEP Accredited Master of Science (M.S.) in Medical Physics at Howard’s Graduate School integrates principles of physics, engineering, and biomedical sciences for clinical applications in the diagnosis and treatment of human diseases such as cancer and heart disease.

As a doctoral student in Mathematics at Howard's Graduate School, you will gain a solid foundation in the mathematical formulation of real-life problems in industry, finance, education, and infectious disease modeling, to name a few areas. Our Ph.D. program in Mathematics will prepare you, like so many of our graduate alumni, to pursue a mathematics career in industry, research, government, or teaching (as a faculty in a college or university mathematics department, curriculum specialist, or mathematics teacher).

The Ph.D. in Communication Sciences and Disorders at Howard's Graduate School attracts exceptional students from diverse backgrounds and prepares them for fulfilling careers in research, teaching, or clinical practice in communication sciences and affiliated fields. Our program welcomes applicants with a master's degree in speech-language pathology or speech, language, and hearing sciences. You may choose from two research specialization areas: the adult neurological track or the child language track.

The Ph.D. in Chemistry at Howard’s Graduate School provides rigorous chemistry research training and real-world applications. Our graduates have landed positions in industry, working for companies such as Intel, SC Johnson, Bayer Material Science, Exxon Mobil, and Merck, and senior-level positions at federal agencies such as the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

The M.S. in Chemistry at Howard’s Graduate School provides rigorous training in chemistry research and real-world applications. The program prepares graduates to pursue careers in the private sector, industry, and government and to pursue further graduate study at the doctoral level. The Master of Science (M.S.) in Chemical Engineering at Howard's Graduate School is designed for students interested in studying biochemical, environmental, and materials process engineering, among other related fields. Our program will prepare you, like many of our graduate alums, for a career in research, government, and industry, including in biotechnology, pharmaceutics, consumer products, manufacturing, and renewable energy. Other graduates go on to pursue further study at the doctoral level.

The Ph.D. in Civil and Environmental Engineering at Howard's Graduate School prepares a new generation of engineering graduates to engage in high-impact research addressing engineering and environmental problems. Our Ph.D. program will prepare you, like so many of our graduate alumni, for a career in research, government, university teaching, or industry.

The Ph.D. in Communication, Culture and Media Studies at Howard's Graduate School welcomes applicants who hold a master’s degree (M.A., M.F.A. or M.S.) with backgrounds in the social sciences, humanities, fine arts, and other communication-related fields. Our program highly encourages an interdisciplinary, multicultural approach to investigating communication issues locally, nationally, and globally.

The Ph.D. in Computer Science at Howard's Graduate School provides intensive preparation in the analysis, design, and application of computing systems to solve complex issues in healthcare, transportation, cybersecurity, data science, and many other areas.
