Performance (M.Musc)

Performance (M.Musc) | Graduate

All students in the Master of Music in Performance degree program must choose to major in an orchestral instrument, classical piano or classical voice. Each has a unique curricular table (see below).

Candidate must complete a total of 35 credits, of which
     • 15 must be in the private instruction area, including a principal performance medium;
     • 9, 12 or 15 credits in supportive graduate courses, ensembles, and Graduate Seminar;
     • 3, 6 or 9 credits in ensembles and/or music elective courses;
     • 1 credit for the Graduate Expository Writing Examination; and
     • 1 credit for the Oral Comprehensive Examination, given by a panel of the student's Graduate Studies instructors after the student has completed all other course work.

A satisfactory Qualifying Recital is required at the end of the first year of study in order to remain in the program. Candidates for graduation must present a Graduate Recital of works approved by their private instructor.
