The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering offers a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (BSCE) degree program. Students in our program receive high quality instruction in each of the 5 sub-disciplines in civil engineering: environmental, geotechnical, structural, transportation, and water resources engineering. Our students are exposed to hands-on opportunities to put their knowledge to work by participating in laboratory courses, internships, and research projects. Our graduates are poised to enter graduate programs and careers in industry and consulting. The department has adopted the student outcomes established by ABET. Achieving these outcomes establishes the foundation for achieving the program educational objectives. This program is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET, http://www.abet.org.

Degree Requirements
To meet the requirements for graduation, a student must successfully complete the required 120 credits of course work with a minimum overall cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.0 and a minimum GPA of 2.0 in civil and environmental engineering courses.

Caution to Prospective Students
The Board of Trustees of Howard University on September 24, 1983, adopted the following policy statement regarding applications for admission: "Applicants seeking admission to Howard University are required to submit accurate and complete credentials and accurate and complete information requested by the University. Applicants who fail to do so shall be denied admission. Enrolled students who as applicants failed to submit accurate and complete credentials or accurate and complete information on their application for admission shall be subject to dismissal when the same is made known, regardless of classification."
